Frequently Asked Questions
-
What is the PRISM course of treatment?A standard course of treatment typically includes 15 sessions taking place over 8 weeks, with booster sessions as needed. Each session lasts approximately 45 minutes. A customized treatment plan will be created under the supervision of our Medical Advisor.
-
Is PRISM safe?Yes! PRISM is a non-invasive, drug-free therapy that uses real-time brain activity monitoring to help individuals regulate their responses to PTSD symptoms. Since it doesn't involve medications or invasive procedures, the risks are minimal, making it a safe option for many individuals dealing with PTSD.
-
Will I need to continue PRISM indefinitely? Most people do not need to continue PRISM long-term once they complete their initial course of treatment. However, follow-up sessions or maintenance therapy may be recommended, especially in times of stress or if symptoms of PTSD return.
-
How soon will I see results from PRISM?The timeline for seeing results from PRISM can vary from person to person. Some individuals may begin to notice improvements in their PTSD symptoms after just a few sessions, while others might require several weeks of consistent treatment to experience significant changes. Typically, noticeable results are often observed within 10 to 20 sessions, but the full benefits may continue to develop over time, even after the therapy concludes. It's important to have realistic expectations and work closely with our healthcare provider to monitor progress and adjust the treatment plan as needed.
-
Is any special preparation required? There's no special preparation needed - you can eat normally, take your medications, and won't be put to sleep during the treatment. You can drive yourself to and from the clinic, and many patients return to work or school right after.
-
How do I know if PRISM is right for me?PRISM is ideal for individuals with PTSD, mood disorders, or anxiety who haven’t found success with medications or traditional therapies. A consultation with a specialist will involve a thorough evaluation of your medical history, symptom severity, and brain activity patterns to personalize the treatment. If you're looking for a cutting-edge, non-invasive option with a tailored approach, PRISM could be a strong fit.

The headset communicates with a computer that provides feedback based on brain patterns linked to PTSD. By observing and adjusting their brain responses, individuals can work towards retraining their brain function, potentially reducing PTSD symptoms over time.

It's primarily used to treat depression, especially in cases where traditional treatments like medication and therapy haven’t been effective.
